FINDING THE FORGOTTEN – Starts 10/6 (Fridays 3:15-5:15 p.m. for 5 weeks) by Jason Edwards
The class will learn about the history of African-Americans in Northeast Georgia and Western North Carolina. We will explore, through case studies and documents, the history of free blacks, slaves, and freedmen in the region from the late 1700s to World War I. 
 
Jason grew up west of Atlanta, but his roots are in Northeast Georgia. Jason moved to Towns County to attend Young Harris College and graduated in the spring of 2017. He plans to go to graduate school next fall. Jason is actively involved with the Towns County Historical Society, and, in 2016, he was made the deputy Historian of the county.

ICL Classroom at Young Harris College.
