LADIES LUNCHEON Georgia Mountain Research & Education Center: Demystifying an Experiment Station! You and your friends are invited to attend a delightful luncheon complete with an entertaining program on Wednesday, April 4th. Join us in the relaxing atmosphere of the upstairs Banquet Room of Brother’s At Willow Ranch Restaurant in Young Harris, nestled between the beautiful mountains of North Georgia and Lake Chatuge. After a delicious lunch, our entertainment begins with Ray Covington, Superintendent of Georgia Mountain Research & Education, a community jewel dedicated to education, outreach and preservation. Located three miles south of Blairsville on the east side of US Highway 19/129, the Center’s roots date back to 1892 as The Jarrett House. The Center has grown to include 415 acres and has 29 ongoing research or extension projects involving numerous UGA faculty members and hundreds of volunteers. In the past 11 years, the Center has served over 42,000 children, students and adults. Here to serve, the research results are available to the entire world! Let’s explore the impressive outreach calendar of events for both adults and children. Then make your plans for your guided tour and visit to the gardens. Ray Covington lives locally, is a husband and father, who has been affiliated with UGA for 17 years and Superintendent of the Center for four years. Ray has a B.S. in Plant Science and a Master’s in Math Education from the University of North Georgia. Next, Katie Bagosy’s moving and personal story, "Picking up the Pieces When Your World is Shattered," concludes our afternoon. Katie lived in the Carolinas prior to moving to Suwanee Georgia. She has two children and has recently taken on the awesome opportunity of home schooling. Brother’s Restaurant is located at 6223 US 76, Young Harris. The cost is $15 (cash/check) and includes the program, door prizes, and a delicious lunch (buffet/drink/dessert/tip). Reservations are required by Monday, March 26.
