Crane Creek Vineyards & Winery, celebrating its 23rd year in business, is a progressive family owned and operated winery located near the town of Young Harris, in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Our estate-grown fruit develops into wines that exhibit a graceful pairing of power and elegance reflecting the region in which they are grown. Crane Creek is seeking at flexible full-time Tasting Room Assistant Manager to ensure exemplary guest service, provide strong leadership, supervise the guest service associate team and guest flow in the tasting room and focus on achieving the Tasting Room Manager’s and the owner’s monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals.

This position is also responsible for inventory, staffing, non-wine sales (merchandise), tasting room employee training and retention. The position works closely with the Tasting Room Manager and the owner to develop and implement plans that improve the guest experience, increase foot traffic, drive revenue, improve profitability all while elevating Crane Creek’s image.

As a hospitality and guest-focused role, this position may work some evenings, weekends and holidays. ORGANIZATIONAL • Communicate the company mission, vision and values. Inspire others in a positive manner by conveying a genuine, positive and professional attitude, which drives accountability and profitability. • Ensure tasting room staff conducts themselves as brand ambassadors demonstrating positive characteristics of exceptional guest service. • Lead by modeling the highest level of guest service and focused sales behavior at all times. • Practice floor management and spend most of the guest service hours in contact with guests, guest service associates and events and hospitality staff. • Maintain and support all existing company policies and procedures; operate based on best service practices and the changing needs of the business. • Look for opportunities to improve existing company policies and then create and implement those new procedures and policies. • Participate in and help lead weekly staff meetings with winery, vineyard and guest service staff to discuss sales, operational issues, company policy changes, and progress on company and departmental goals. • Schedule, train, supervise and evaluate all guest service associates. Provide daily coaching as needed to improve and develop sales and guest service performance. • Perform any needed office work before and after tasting room business hours.

OPERATIONS • Oversee day to day floor operations in the Tasting Room which includes wine tastings, visitor relations, tours, staff performance, and internet sales
• Hire, train, schedule and supervise Tasting Room staff • Complete all daily, weekly and monthly reports accurately and timely. • Conduct training to ensure that exemplary hospitality practices are upheld and that winery and wine information is communicated to guests accurately and consistently. • Ensure guest service concerns are followed up until they are resolved (on the same day and continuously until the guest is completely satisfied). Once the service issue is resolved, analyze and then implement solutions to eliminate any future occurrences. • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the tasting room, tasting room offices • Anticipate guest needs and look for opportunities daily to fulfill unexpressed guest needs.
• Inventory management of wine, retail merchandise and tasting room supplies
• In conjunction with the wine club manager, oversee shipping to customers and wine club members
• Draft email newsletters, maintain social media presence, and update website as needed

FINANCIAL/INVENTORY CONTROL • Handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers, and accounting for daily sales. Accomplish bank deposits.
• Ensure that cash accounting is correct and complete at the end of the business day
• Effectively manage operating costs including tasting room labor according to budget. Review financial reports with the Tasting Room Manager and owner monthly.
• Ensure cash handling procedures are followed, recorded, and counted accurately. Ensure security of assets including keys, safe and cash is maintained at all times.
• Monitor and ensure staff strictly follows inventory control procedures including: sales register receipt process and transfers.

WORKING CONDITIONS: • Regular working schedule to include some weekends and holidays • Possible long and irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events • Moderate to heavy physical work (moving wine cases and retail supplies, setting up for special events) • Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day) • Carrying case(s) of wine to customer’s vehicle after purchase • Washing wine glasses and dishes to keep a clean work environment • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds repeatedly (case of wine)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical, math skills and proficiency using technology (Microsoft office and Adobe Photoshop)
• Proficiency with all forms of social media to include but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
• Sales/retail or general hospitality experience
