SUMMARY:Daughters of the American Revolution Old Unicoi Trail Chapter Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join the Conservation Committee as it looks forward to sponsoring our February 2017 program which features Mickey Cummings. Mickey holds degrees in Agriculture and Agricultural Education from the University of Georgia and Clemson University\, worked with the Georgia Cooperative Extension for some 30 years\, retiring from Union County. He is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Cooperative. He has served as President of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents\, a group that totals some 3\,600 members. He also serves as Director of the very successful Union County Farmers Market located in Blairsville\, Georgia. Mickey is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hiking\, hunting\, fly fishing\, mountain biking and canoeing. Mickey is currently hiking the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) section by section. He shares his adventures on Facebook. At the February meeting\, Mickey will share photographs he has taken of the natural resources of our beautiful North Georgia mountains. Mickey will walk you through a pictorial tour that includes native plants\, waterfalls\, the A.T\, rock formations\, historical sites and other points of interest. THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE UNION COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY ON FEBRUARY 11th. This is so we can have a large screen for projecting Mickey's photographs. The program is sponsored by the Conservation Committee\, Marty Wood\, Chair. Mountain Sounds Dulcimer Club of Blairsville\, GA will present special music. This performance is sponsored by our chapter's Historic Preservation Committee\, Beverly Shreeve\, Chair. The group is a satellite of North Georgia Foothills Dulcimer Association.
