SUMMARY:Making a Leather Purse Class
DESCRIPTION:Students will learn the basics of Pyrography on leather by using a wood burning tool\, cutting and stitching leather. You will make a useful and functional leather bag that can be worn on a belt or as a shoulder bag. Several styles\, shapes and sizes of the bag/pouch will be available to choose from. Weather you choose to make a rugged hiker/camping pouch\, to a 'special occasion' shoulder bag\, all tools and materials are provided. Special templates and drawings will be available for you to use to draw or inscribe your bag with the leather burning tool. Students will have the option of crafting their pouches using the wood burning tool and leaving their artwork naturally colored or they can slao learn techniques to paint or add color to the leather as well as some embellishing. No experience with leather or artistic talent is necessary. We begin the morning with homemade sweet breads\, coffee or tea. lunch is a warm yummy farm to table cozy affair: $99.00 each. All levels welcome Teacher: Tom Slavicek Tom has been leather crafting since he was a Boy Scout\, when he earned his Leatherwork Merit Badge on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout. During his career days and an executive for a national youth organization\, his hobby managed to stay alive and thrive in the form of creating numerous Native American leather/beadwork outfits and articles of clothing\, along with his favorite item\, leather pouches. Class Times: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
