DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a Monthly Mingle on November 20th from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. The Georgia Department of Labor's Southern Highland Employer Committee in conjunction with the Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Workforce Challenges Symposium. A carefully selected panel of experts will be discussing workforce challenges including wages\, benefits\, drugs\, and retention of employees in a question and answer format.   Also\, Amy McCombs with Union County Schools will be speaking about the GA BEST Program.  The Georgia Department of Labor's Southern Highland Employer Committee in conjunction with the Blairsville-Union County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Workforce Challenges Symposium. A carefully selected panel of experts will be discussing workforce challenges including wages\, benefits\, drugs\, and retention of employees in a question and answer format. \n\nThe key to Georgia's economic prosperity is a reliable and consistent workforce. Therefore\, one of the Georgia Department of Labor's (GDOL) fundamental goals is to equip Georgia's future workforce with the skills they need to succeed in the global marketplace. As such\, Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler developed GeorgiaBEST (Business Employability Skills Training) for citizens across the state. GeorgiaBEST focuses on the employability skills needed in the workplace as identified by Georgia businesses. It concentrates on areas such as personal characteristics\, interactions with others and employer expectations with individual topics that include attitude\, respect\, attendance and punctuality and more. The program\, modeled after the business world\, assesses participants through everyday observation.   \n\n \n\nUnion County High School will begin implementation of GeorgiaBEST the 2019-20 school year and hopes to partner with local businesses to grow our students in employability skills.
