DESCRIPTION:The model railroad layout depicting Tri-State railroading in the early 1950's will be in operation and the public is invited to come enjoy the representation\, learn how railroads played such an important role in the development of this area and to learn the unique history of the restored beautiful brick depot.This building was constructed over 100 years ago with locally made brick and is the oldest public building remaining in Fannin County. In addition to the opportunity to view and inspect this building close up\, you will also be able to observe the progress being made by Tri-State Model Railroaders on their large "HO" Scale model railroad representing the Louisville & Nashville Railroad's "Hook and Eye" Old Line running from Marietta\, Ga through Ellijay\, Blue Ridge and McCaysville/Copperhill to Etowah\, TN and the branch line to Murphy\, NC. Enjoy history\, model railroading\, and great conversation about this Tri-State Region's railroading history.
