DESCRIPTION:Now's your opportunity to learn the mountain tradition of shape note singing. Jack Parker teaches the nuances of shape note singing with the 7-note scale.\n\n			\n\n			When churches had no instruments\, singing masters chose songs from a shaped-note songbook and led the congregation in reading and singing the notes.\n\n			\n\n			Here in Union County the tradition of shape note gospel has been kept alive by the Union County Singing Convention.  In 2010\, in conjunction with the Historical Society\, a singing school was taught by Jack Parker. From that school a singing practice is held every second Thursday in the Old Courthouse.\n\n			\n\n			Beginners and listeners are welcome!
