SUMMARY:Sung Compline
DESCRIPTION:St. Clare's Church Offers Monthly Sung Compline Service\n\nSt. Clare's Episcopal Church in Blairsville offers a monthly service of Sung Compline\, or "Prayers as Night Falls\," on the first Sunday of each month at 7:00pm. All are invited to attend the service\, which lasts about 30 minutes.\n\n\n\nCompline is a beautiful service which marks the end of the day in the Christian tradition. The service is contemplative in nature and emphasizes "the peace which passes all understanding" (Philippians 4:7). The English word Compline is derived from the Latin completorium\, as Compline is the completion of the working day. The word was first used in this sense at the beginning of the 6th century.\n\n\n\nBegun in monastic settings\, Compline is frequently led by a choir which has historically consisted of male voices only\, and the St. Clare's Compline Choir will follow this tradition. The Compline Choir\, under the direction of Henry Batten\, is open to all men in the community with a love for singing.\n\n\n\nIf you would like to sing in this new choir\, or would like more information about the service itself\, please contact the church office at 706-745-0607 or visit us on the web at StClaresEpiscopal.org. The Rev. Liz Schellingerhoudt is priest-in-charge.
