SUMMARY:Tri-County Women's Connection Luncheon & Program
DESCRIPTION:The Unwrapped Gift We've all heard this saying: "It is better to give than to receive" and it's true! December is a time of giving and we hope you will join us at our at our December 3rd luncheon of the Tri-County Women's Connection at Monet's Caf in Blairsville. Our Feature Guest is Margie Porter from S.A.F.E. Bring an item from the S.A.F.E. Shelter List Needs (see below) and get a $1.00 off your lunch. You give and receive! S.A.F.E has served Towns and Union Counties since 1989\, providing services to victims of Domestic Violence\, Child Abuse\, and Sexual Abuse. Since that time\, additional free and confidential services have been added including legal advocacy\, referral services\, children's programs\, family violence assessments/case management\, prevention education programs\, sexual assault prevention and services\, and a family support center program. The two S.A.F.E. thrift stores exist as a means to support S.A.F.E. in many ways. First\, they provide an avenue for accepting household and clothing donations given at no charge to victims served by S.A.F.E. Secondly\, they create an opportunity to raise money to fund the shelter and their programs as well as give the public the opportunity to find their own treasures in the store. All net proceeds are returned to S.A.F.E.'s operating budget monthly to support their services. Following is a partial list of S.A.F.E. Shelter Needs (new items only please): adult socks\; band-aids\; baby wipes\, baby bath\, lotions & powders\; brushes\; can openers\; cereal bowls\, cleaning supplies\; crib sheets\; deodorant\; diapers (all sizes) and pull-ups (all sizes)\; facial tissues\; feminine products\; hair clips and ponytail holders\; paper towels\; pillows\; pots and pans\, razors\; 1-ply toilet paper\; twin size linens\; trash bags (30 gal)\; powder laundry detergent-no liquid\; snacks for children's groups. No need to wrap\, bring one or more items and claim your $1.00 luncheon discount! As with any non-profit organization\, volunteers are always welcomed and needed. Please visit the S.A.F.E. website at http://www.safeservices.org/ to find out how you can be involved. Their office phone is 706-379-1901. The crisis hotline is 706-379-3000. It's the most wonderful time of the year and of course\, there are presents\, but have we left the most important gift unopened? Our Speaker and Gifted Flutist Holly Berry from Marietta\, will tell her story\, "The Unwrapped Gift" with words and music. Please make your reservation by Monday\, December 1. The cost of $11 (don't forget to bring a shelter item for $1.00 off) includes door prizes\, lunch with coffee or tea\, dessert\, tax & tip\, cash or check.
