Register Now for "A Day at the C.R.E.E.K." -
Creative & Recreational Environmental Education for Kids
Registration is open for the HIwassee River Watershed Coalition's 2011 C.R.E.E.K. summer day long camp program. The mission of C.R.E.E.K. is to educate middle school age youth about basic water quality science information, encourage the application of environmentally sound practices, and promote career opportunities in the sciences. Each camp is oriented near a stream or river so that students may have hands on experience conducting water quality experiments, identifying native plants, and observing and cataloguing native fish populations.
Three identical day long camps will be offered from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the following locations:
July 28, 2011: Meeks Park, Blairsville GA
July 27, 2011: John C Campbell Folk School, Brasstown, NC
July 26, 2011: Konahete Park, Murphy, NC
The camps are fre and open to youth going into 6th, 7th or 8th grades this fall in Union, Towns and Fannin counties in GA and Cherokee and Clay counties in NC.
