Art, River, Music Festival & Crazy Float Contest

The Art, River and Music Festival will include more than 50 local and regional artists with a wide variety of wonderful art for sale such as jewelry, woodturning, pottery, weaving, photography, woodcarvings, furniture, paintings, baskets and much more.  In addition, live demonstrations of artists’ work will be featured throughout the day, including pottery and blacksmithing!  Arts activities for kids are also available during the day, including face-painting, a petting zoo, dance workshop and other fun diversions!

On the river, the Hiawassee River Watershed Coalition and Appalachian Outfitters will provide free canoe or kayak tours from 9:00-1:00.  At 2:00 the Crazy Float Contest will begin at the Murphy boat ramp.  Boats must be homemade vessels with no real boat or watersports parts allowed!  Vessels will be judged on Most Artistic, Fastest, Best Theme (costumes encouraged!), and Best Use of Recycled Materials.  Prizes will be awarded.

The day will also include music, featuring local and regional musicians and dancers, including the Brasstown Morris Dancers and Band.  There will also be a modern dance workshop for kids of all ages at noon, with a children’s performance on stage to follow.  Pre-registration is encouraged.
