Blood Drive in memory of Derrick Whittle
The only child of Jim and Sharon Whittle, Derrick was a friend to many in Blairsville. It's been said that Derrick never met a stranger.
He began working for the Union County Sheriff's Department in April 2011. On September 15, 2011, Derrick was responding to a call when he hit a tree. He died from his injuries 3 days later.
As part of his legacy of helping others, his wish was to be an organ donor. He was able to save the life of a fireman with a child and a policeman with 2 children.
Because of Derrick's love for helping others and his love for Union County, his family would like to honor him on his birthday. For every one blood donation, up to 3 lives will benefit from the legacy of Derrick Whittle.
