Calling All Children To The Farmers Market
This Saturday, Sept 18th, the Union County Farmers Market will be celebrating the Farmer, and we want to invite all the children to participate. There will be tables set up with drawing and coloring supplies, encouraging them to create pictures of anything to do with a Farm or the Farmers Market. Pictures will then be hung at the Courthouse the next week on public display. At 9am the children will get to see a bit of local history as they enjoy our parade of antique tractors.
Every child likes to dress up, and we’d like them to join our “Lil Farmer” costume competition. Children will compete in their age group in the following categories: Most Original Costume; Cutest Animal Costume; and Best Fruit or Vegetable Costume. Age categories are newborn to 3yrs, 4 yrs to 10 yrs and 11 yrs to 14 yrs. Costumes should represent anything to do with a farm, garden, livestock or the Market. At 10 am we will have all our children, who come in costume, form a parade around the market. Then we will conduct the competition. Sign-up will be as they enter the parade at 10am.
There will be free snow cones and popcorn for the kids (and the kids at heart) on this Saturday. Parents and grandparents, we encourage you to go to the closet with the kids this week and see how creative you can get.
