Sometimes bad things happen in good places. It’s hard to believe in our beautiful county that a child can be born with methamphetamine in his system, or watch in fear as domestic violence occurs in his home, or that feces on the floor isn’t normal. Sometimes these stories become public. You read about them and think, “How terrible. I wish I could do something.” Well, you can.
CASA helps on so many fronts. First and foremost, you are helping a child find a loving permanent home. You are the CASA for that child until permanency happens. You’re also providing another, independent set of eyes to difficult situations. Finally, you are helping a financially overburdened state save thousands of dollars.
Last year in the Enotah circuit, CASA volunteers served almost 180 abused and/or neglected children. CASA’s are trained to speak out on behalf of the children we serve. A CASA volunteer goes to the juvenile court and speaks to the judge----and the judge will listen. National studies have shown that CASA works for children.
