In 1942 with the world at war, the United States government acquired a mountain and the surrounding land in Toccoa, GA as a training facility for a new type of soldier, the paratrooper. Young men from across the nation who had little in common except a shared future, descended on the small north Georgia town to train to defend their country. The Currahee Military Reunion Weekend serves to honor the men of Camp Toccoa, show appreciation for the sacrifices they made and celebrate their commitment to America. Meet some the paratroopers who trained at Camp Toccoa Visit the Currahee Military Museum Walk through the actual stable, which housed the soldiers in Aldbourne, England Run the Currahee Challenge Run/Walk (3 miles up and 3 miles down) Enjoy many other activities, displays plane & helicopter rides and re-enactments.
