Have you ever gazed up at the night sky and wondered what was "out there"? Now is your chance to discover the mysteries of the universe atop Brasstown Bald, the highest mountain and darkest sky in the state. You will be guided through the night by Georgia astronomer, Alex Langoussis, FRAS, as he will interpret the wonders of the stars through his deep knowledge, galactic legends, and the use of a high powered telescope. You’ll be a “Guardian of the Galaxy” after spending an evening learning about the magic of deep space and northern Georgia's incredible nightscape!
Pre-registration is required
Alex Langoussis
Georgia based astronomy expert, and your star gazing captain
Recently retired from teaching at Emory University, Alex has been professionally conducting research and education programs since 1979. Alex was an investigator for the international Puckett Observatory Supernova Search Team, and is credited with the discovery of 24 supernovas (exploding stars in other galaxies). His passion and deep knowledge for the night sky has allowed him to lead astronomy programs in diverse venues such as the top of city skyscapers, public schools & universities, nature centers, the Atlanta Fernbank Science Center Observatory for 20 years, and to the desert of the NamibRand Nature Preserve in Namibia, Africa, as the in house guest astronomer for a 5-star nature lodge. Alex will join us at Brasstown Bald for a series of mountain top astronomy programs in 2018
