"Historical Lessons From a One-room Schoolhouse"

Joy of Learning, a one-room schoolhouse and an integral part of the Rhonda Joy Edwards Vansant Foundation, is offering a special morning of lessons for adults to enjoy. The setting and experiences will bring to remembrance our cherished American heritage. Proceeds will help to fund a youth leadership camp being planned for next summer.

Date: Saturday, September 28, 2013
Time: 10:00am - 12:30pm
Location: Joy of Learning, 318 Frank Martin Rd., Blairsville, GA.
From 129 South take Town Creek School Road and turn left onto Trackrock Gap Road. Proceed approximately 2 miles and turn right onto Frank Martin Rd. The schoolhouse is about a quarter mile on the right.

Cost: $20 per person which includes all materials, beverages and desserts.  Limit of 25 participants.

Bring a sack lunch, (beverages and dessert will be provided) and something of historical significance to share with the group (picture, letter, clothing, jewelry, artifact, book, poem, etc.)
The schedule will include a tour of the schoolhouse, a time to reflect upon the history of education and the challenges we face today, various Patriotic Remembrances, Lessons from the past with opportunities to read textbooks and materials from the 1800's, a history lesson of hope and goodness that should be shared with students of all ages, and lunch with a time for conversation and a walk around the beautiful property.
