Neighbor's Hand & S.A.F.E  "Fashion Show"

The Fashion Show will be held on October 5^th at the North Georgia Technical College is being sponsored by S.A.F.E. and Neighbor’s Hand. They are two local organizations that provide services as well as prevention to family emergencies. They have partnered together to deal with a serious issue facing our students today: unhealthy relationships. In doing so, they are bringing awareness to a state wide campaign that is hitting our community right now. It’s “Step Up. Step In”.

What is Step Up. Step In.? It’s a collaborative campaign headed by the GA Dept. of Public Health in partnership with GNESA. The campaign prevents sexual bullying by teaching adolescents and teens about offensive behaviors so they do not perpetrate them against each other. The campaign also teaches youth how to respond if they experience, witness, hear about, or suspect any form of sexual bullying.

Students in our community have come together and found a fun way to get the message out- fashion! The “fashion show” consists of models that will runway clothes (jeans, t-shirts, shoes, etc.) that have been altered or decorated in a way that gets the Step Up. Step In. message visible. It’s going to be a fun night of fashion, finger foods, and a way to support a message that will impact a student’s life.
