The Blue Ridge Mountains Chapter of the SAR will celebrate Patriots Day at the Union County Historical Society (The old Union County Courthouse) on Friday April 19, 2013 from 11-2 PM.
Patriots Day is recognized as the day of the battle at Lexington and Concord where the American Patriots defeated the British. The American farmers stood and fired "the shot heard around the world"
The chapter will erect an exact replica of a colonial tent along with other items making up the colonial campsite. Also on display will be a Revolutionary War canon replica.

Periodically, from 11 AM until 2 PM chapter members dressed in Colonial and Militia Uniforms will fire replica flintlock muskets using black powder but without bullets. This will demonstrate how the muskets were used and fired in battle.
