The Ridges Resort & Marina Sponsors 2011 Gift Program for the
American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens
 
Hiawassee, Georgia- The Ridges Resort & Marinalocated on the shores of Lake Chatuge in the Blue Ridge Mountains just two hours north of Atlanta is sponsoring the 2011 Gift Program of the American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens (AFP&CC) as one of their community outreach programs.  With the combined efforts of The Ridges Resort & Marina, our local and area communities, as well as the American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens will have a huge impact on many children who have lost their mothers and fathers in the line of duty.  Our nation loses an average of 150 law enforcement officers every year.  It is the mission of the American Federation of Police & Concerned Citizens through programs of compassion, scholarships, gifts, and grief counseling assistance, to support and assist family members and children of officers killed in the line of duty and to honor the ultimate sacrifice they made in making society a better place for all of us.  There are surviving children of all ages across our nation who is able to receive gifts each year in honor of their mother or father who was killed in the line of duty through this program.  This Gift Program is unique in that the majority of children who are provided for are tweens and teens and most were already in grade school when they lost their father or mother.  With the support of local and area communities, and organizations such as The Ridges Resort & Marina, this program is 100% privately funded.
