Spring Artists’ Reception at the Art of Gold Gallery
5010 Highway 76, just north of the Brasstown Resort, in Young Harris. 4-7 p.m.
Owner and super friendly proprietors, Vickie and Bob Levy welcome you to visit them and meet the new group of artists represented at the Gallery. There will be ample food and entertainment while you browse through the rooms of original, professional artwork. No two alike, five woman artists have their work on display and for sale.
Originally from Springfield, MA, Susan Proctor, who has a home in Blue Ridge, GA, is the featured artist for the Gallery this spring with an entire room to show off her bold, contemporary, expressionist - style pieces that are a visual treat. She has been a working artist in Atlanta, GA since 1995 and has been accepted to and participated in several juried art exhibits and has won awards for her work.
Twinkle Nelson’s charming miniatures reflect the combination of her early Chinese Brush painting with watercolor and acrylics and her many travel experiences in Europe and Asia. Other works have been influenced by her many trips to her mountain residence on Lake Nottely. Ms. Nelson has had pieces in over 18 juried shows and exhibits in 17 facilities in and around Atlanta since 2007. This self-taught, retired business owner’s, artistic talent shows her charm and wit that make her pieces also twinkle.
Local artist and former interior designer, Carol Lumpkin, says, “I love to paint and I love color.” That said, her work is a pleasure to behold and enjoy. Her earlier career allowed her much time to delve into various forms of design including accomplishments in porcelain, tile and mural work in many private installations and commercial locations throughout the southeast. Lumpkin has shared her love of art with others by contributing numerous feature and instructional articles in numerous national art and design publications.
Retired career school librarian, Doris Durbin, Blairsville, GA, now has time to branch out into new artistic endeavors. She painted exclusively with transparent watercolors for 20 years but now is dabbling into oils, mixed media and fiber arts. Durbin has exhibited her watercolors for four years at the Hiawassee Art Festival. Her paintings are also on display at the state capitol in Atlanta, Blairsville Community Center, and the Union County Library. Her newer works may be found at the Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa Art Gallery.
Intuitive energy painter, Melissa Sellars, has extended her showing with the Art of Gallery through June 10. Her bright, bold, original works show her inner vitality and emotional energy. Works have been commissioned for private collections and businesses in Texas, Alabama and Georgia.
