How Sitting Can Produce Healthy Benefits Did you know that sitting can make you healthier? It will if you learn the practice of Yoga in a Chair! At the August 6th Wednesday luncheon of the Tri-County Women's Connection, our Special Feature Denver Clark-Boskey, owner of Centerpointe, will teach us how to achieve those benefits. Yoga is not just for the young and limber. In fact, CenterPointe's adult students range from 32 to 79 years old. Students can choose from nine different Yoga classes from beginner to seasoned. Denver has taught over 1,400 hours of Yoga classes and the entire staff of Yoga instructors are certified with the Yoga Alliance of America. As a testament to the quality of their instruction, CenterPointe offers the first class free to all Fannin, Union and Towns County residents. Denver Boskey has lived in Blue Ridge for eight years. Born into a family of dancers and choreographers, she attended the University of Central Florida's BFA Musical Theatre Program with a minor in dance. After college, she searched for an activity to replace her dancing. At her first Yoga class she knew she had found a healthy physical activity and a life changing way to view the world and herself. She immediately enrolled in a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. Denver is certified at the ERYT200 hr level and will receive her 500hr level certification in December. In the past 5 years Denver and her husband, Jason, have built CenterPointe studios into a destination for Dance & Yoga in North Georgia. CenterPointe is located in Blue Ridge just off Highway 515 at 21 High Park Drive, #4. Check out their website at www.centerpointega.com or call 706.258.9642. Adding beautiful melodies for our listening pleasure is Amanda Alexander from Murphy. She comes from a musical family and started singing and performing at concerts at seven years old. Amanda performed at the middle, high school, college and professional levels. Music has always been a lifeline, helping Amanda through life's trials, struggles, and victories. A widow with four sons, she was blessed with her first grandchild last fall. Our Guest Speaker was born and raised in China, but Amanda Kuhn has been a resident of the US for more than four years. Currently, Amanda is a college student and she also enjoys reading, singing and knitting. Amanda learned how a tragic, life-changing, physical experience and a seemingly hopeless future is not hopeless after all.
