Young Harris College’s O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium will present “The Little Star That Could” at 7 p.m. and “Skies Over Georgia” at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 16,
as part of a special “Starry Night” program for children and families.
“The Little Star That Could” tells the delightful story of an average yellow star in search of planets of his own. Along the way, he meets other stars, learns what makes each star special and discovers that stars can form clusters and galaxies. Eventually, Little Star finds his planets, and each planet is introduced with basic information about our solar system.
Featuring a live presenter and using the planetarium’s digital and optical Star Projectors to their fullest, “Skies Over Georgia” is a traditional star show that allows audiences to explore the heavens as they appear above the mountains of north Georgia. Learn how to identify the planets and stars currently visible in the night sky, take a guided tour of the season’s constellations and hear some of their fascinating stories.
Rollins Planetarium is located in the Maxwell Center on the campus of Young Harris College.
