Public Services Associate, Miller Library, Young Harris College
Young Harris College encourages applications for the position of Public Services Associate in the Zell & Shirley Miller Library. Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, this full-time position’s primary duty is to facilitate the library user experience for the YHC community. The associate works extensively with students and other patrons, managing library materials and services, and supervising student employees. Other duties include the following:
- Assisting in daily operations, including assisting patrons
- Training, scheduling, and supervising student public service employees
- Engaging the YHC community with by developing displays, events, publicity, and programming relating to institutional initiatives, local recreational opportunities, and the region’s diverse cultural offerings
- Overseeing user services, including circulation, reserves, holds, recalls, and overdue materials
- Managing InterLibrary Loan (ILL) services
- Ensuring the accurate reshelving and maintenance of physical collections
- Collaborating with all other student and professional library staff members to ensure a positive experience for patrons
- Carrying out other work-related duties as assigned
Qualified applicants are expected to have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education and have relevant work experience, ideally but not necessarily in a library setting. Applicants must have experience with standard office equipment and programs and must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
