The leaves are changing and the air is getting cooler, which can only mean one thing: it's time for a scenic drive! Blairsville is the perfect place to take in all of the autumn glory. Our winding mountain roads provide the perfect backdrop for enjoying nature's finest show. So grab your friends and family and hit the open road! Here are some of our favorite fall drives in Blairsville.

Start your engines in Downtown Blairsville and head south on Hwy 129 to Richard Russell Parkway and ride the Gauntlet, a well-known motorcycle route. Be sure to stop at the top to take in the views at Hog Pen Gap. This 128 mile ride takes you through Helen, over Unicoi Mountain, to Hiawassee and back over to Blairsville.

Let us suggest a couple of pit stops along your way that are well worth the stop!

Vogel State Park, one of Georgia's oldest State Parks is one of the most photographed spots with its crystal-clear reflective lake, and Trahlyta Falls which you can view right from your car! You can also hike to the top of Blood Mountain or take an easy stroll on one of the many hiking trails Vogel has to offer, if you need to get out and stretch your legs.

Sunrise Grocery is famous for their boiled peanuts, Appalachian apparel, and regional award-winning photography. Be sure to bring us back a bag of boiled peanuts, too!

Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point, offers spectacular views of four states - Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee!

West from Blairsville and more than just cow pastures, Skeenah Gap leads you into the beautiful and small town of Suches, Georgia, known as the valley above the clouds. The drive is only about an hour, but the scenery and cool mountain air will make you feel like you've been in the mountains all day!

The Nottely River Dam Road takes you on a journey through tall pines, hardwoods, and pastures with views of the river below. The Nottely River is perfect for fishing, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water.

This is just a short list of some great fall drives in our area- so get out there and enjoy the crisp cool air and beautiful fall colors!
