Accent on Gourds - Millie Bayne became interested in gourds after seeing what could be done with them at the Cherokee gourd festival, probably in June 2007. She has participated in a couple of juried shows where she has won some ribbons for some of the pieces. Before retiring to this area she had never heard of gourd art. They are an easy medium to work with acting similar to wood in that you can carve, burn, paint, etc., etc., on them. This meeting is OPEN to Friends of Master Gardeners and the community.
