The band will perform patriotic musical selections and recognize our nation's active and retired service men and women.
Retired Lt. Col. Robert Thurston will serve as a guest conductor. Lt. Col. Thurston recently retired following a 20-year career as Chief Arranger for the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. He has also written several dozen original musical compositions published for a variety of musical ensembles. He will conduct “On Behalf of A Grateful Nation” and “Flight of The Falcon,” two of his original compositions for band.
The Community Band will also perform other familiar favorites including John Philip Sousa’s “The Liberty Bell March” and a medley of American folksongs.
Under the direction of Adjunct Instructor of Music Kerry Rittenhouse, the YHC Community Band provides an opportunity for local musicians to perform quality musical literature.
